Red Burgundy wines are really the best partners for goose. Provided the goose fat is properly drained, fruitier Clarets can be happy partners. Some other midweight fruity Reds can also work well (see the style finder on the left hand side of this page which contains a good New World selection).
White wines can be problematic with goose though New World oaked Chardonnay will generally be a fairly good companion. For something dangerously different you could try some gently oaked South African Viognier! |
