It is always alleged to be a good year for Beaujolais Nouveau! What is perhaps more interesting is the different styles each year shows. If the producer is any good (and ours is a Beaujolais specialist) then the result will be interesting and drinkable, which as wine interest expands is perhaps why the wine is becoming more appreciated than in the recent past. Standards have also been helped by the decrease in the permitted vineyard yields, which has lead to a general quality improvement.
The 2009 Vintage was warm with below average rainfall, so the harvest is well below average in quantity. It started remarkably early in August and many feel the 2009 vintage is exceptional... Unfortunately the strength of the Euro versus the £ has proved a challenge and has meant it is exceptional in more ways than one...
