BACKGROUND
South African wines are now of a very good standard all the way from house wine to wine for laying down. Since the end of apartheid, South Africa has gradually embraced new technology, new markets and new styles.
'Pinotage' a crossing of Cinsault and Pinot Noir is still almost unique to South Africa. The introductory style of our FREEDOM CROSS PINOTAGE to the full flavours of our ZONNEBLOEM PINOTAGE demonstrates the diversity of this grape.
Past developments are not forgotten and an old world 'feel' is retained with wine styles rarely overbearing or overtly fruity. Our SIMONSIG TIARA, a Bordeaux blend, can certainly be laid down to reveal its full potential.
